The Rebecca Rhodes Memorial Rock Garden
The Rebecca Rhodes Memorial Rock Garden at Rhodes Greenhouses was created in loving memory of Becky, whose passion for nature—especially rocks—was a special part of who she was.
Rebecca had a deep appreciation for the beauty and mystery of the natural world. She loved flowers and plants, but rocks held a special place in her heart. To honor that love, her family created a memorial rock garden next to the greenhouses where visitors can pause, reflect, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Eventually, at the center of the garden will be a large boulder brought from her grandmother’s farm in Ellisburg. Among the many stones placed in the garden is a unique rock formed in Canada and carried here thousands of years ago by glaciers. Many other rocks were lovingly brought by family and friends at the time of Becky’s funeral, each one representing the love and memories shared with her.
Today, the garden stands as a place of remembrance and reflection. Surrounded by flowers that bloom throughout the summer, it celebrates Becky’s love for nature and the lasting impact she had on those who knew her.
In Becky’s honor, the Rebecca Rhodes Memorial Scholarship was also established through the Northern New York Community Foundation, supporting students pursuing studies in science and related fields—continuing her passion for learning and discovery.

Rebecca Rhodes Scholarship
The Rebecca Rhodes Memorial Scholarship was established through the Northern New York Community Foundation to honor the life and legacy of Rebecca A.G. Rhodes. A Henderson native and passionate student of science, Becky pursued studies in geology, math, and physics before earning a master’s degree in engineering science with a focus on geological engineering.
Created by her family, the scholarship supports Jefferson County students pursuing education in STEM fields, particularly geology and earth sciences. The fund continues Becky’s legacy by helping students follow their passion for science, learning, and discovery.
