Since 1962, Rhodes Greenhouses has been Northern New York’s trusted destination for gardeners, offering over 40,000 square feet of growing space on 8.5 acres. Beginning each February, our dedicated team starts preparing for the spring season, sowing and propagating a wide variety of bedding plants in a small propagation greenhouse. As the season progresses, these plants expand into 12 heated greenhouses, and eventually move into an additional 10 greenhouses with many placed outdoors on tables to grow in the fresh air.

We grow most vegetables from seed to ensure early and healthy starts. Rhodes Greenhouses is especially known for its tomato collection, including over 15 heirloom varieties such as Amish Paste, Brandywine, Costoluto, Italian Heirloom, Tiffen Mennonite, Pineapple Hawaiian, Oxheart, Mr. Stripey, and Old German. Our selection also includes over 50 types of herbs (including more than 10 varieties of basil), 30+ types of peppers, and a variety of cold crops like lettuce, cauliflower, broccoli, kale, bok choy, Brussels sprouts, beans, peas, corn, celery, eggplant, squash, and spinach.

Our greenhouse is celebrated for its flowers and ornamentals, including geraniums (variegated, scented, and colorful), over 30 types of marigolds, 20+ types of pansies and violas, 25+ colors of impatiens, 20+ types of zinnias in short, medium, and tall varieties, hanging baskets, color bowls, and cemetery memorial planters.

As a Proven Winners® Certified Grower and Retailer, Rhodes Greenhouses is a destination site for gardeners, offering over 20 petunias, 20 calibrachoa, and more than 70 other Proven Winners® bedding plants. Our perennials include over 15 types of daylilies, hostas, and coneflowers, while our shrubs feature 15+ varieties of hydrangeas, many fruit trees, and an assortment of blueberry varieties.

To help your garden thrive, we also carry a full range of plant care items, including fertilizers, disease and pest control, and quality garden tools. We offer a variety of seed packets from Burpee, allowing gardeners to start their own vegetables, herbs, and flowers at home.

Beyond gardening, Rhodes Greenhouses offers a welcoming and peaceful environment for visitors. Guests are encouraged to take a break and explore the Veteran Memorial Gardens, which feature a Cobra helicopter, a battle tank, artillery shells from the USS New Jersey, and other military displays. There is also a special rock garden dedicated to the Rhodes’ late daughter, filled with an assortment of rocks and flowers that are in full bloom during the summer. Customers are invited to pause, take in the scenery, enjoy a picnic, and simply appreciate the finer things in life while smelling the flowers.
